Parking By-Law Reminder from Committee of the Whole

The Town of Prescott is reminding the public that there are rules in place during the winter months to help public works clear the snow.

During last night’s Committee of the Whole meeting there was a discussion about how some residents are either ignoring or unaware of the by-laws. Councillor Lee McConnell remembered a car being parked overnight, the wrong direction, where a plow would need to drive. He points out that blocking plows doesn’t help anyone or the situation as a whole.

McConnell also reminded the public that there is a fine for blowing snow off of your property and onto the street. This is a provincial law and putting snow or ice onto a roadway can result in an $85 fine anywhere in Ontario.

McConnell finished by praising the job town staff has done over the past few weeks clearing the snow.
