UPDATE: Freezing Rain Warning now in effect for the region

Update: Environment Canada has now upgraded the weather statement to a Freezing Rain Warning. Environment Canada says surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots could become icy and slippery once we receive freezing rain.

We could see freezing rain this afternoon and this evening in the region.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement saying the freezing rain is expected to be light and patchy. It’s also expected to be short lived as the warm front passes through this evening, ending the threat of freezing rain.

Environment Canada says areas closer to the Quebec border and the Ottawa Valley could see freezing rain persist a little longer, although amounts are still expected to be light.

Environment Canada says slippery conditions are possible on untreated surfaces.
