Residents in the area competed to see who had the best chili at the third annual South Edwardsburgh Recreation Association Snowfest.
The event brought out local residents of all ages to the Johnstown Community Centre.
There were nine contestants in the chili cook off. The contestants were:
There were “People’s Choice” and “Judges’ Choice” awards at the event. Winning both awards was the chili by Judith and Mario Beriault of Johnstown.
They won a private tour of the Port of Johnstown for the family and kitchen utensils courtesy of Beach’s Home Hardware. Mario says the secret to the winning chili is patience.
In addition to the chili cook off there was also live music, kids games and a family movie at Snowfest.
The band Sons of Gord, from Chesterville, was back for the third year in a row. Snowfest organizer, Katie Allard, says they are a fan favourite in Johnstown.
