Brockville Police Services are asking for the public’s helping locating Joshua Hawkins.
According to police the 29-year-old from Brockville is being searched for after two incidents yesterday. First officers observed a man running south on Hill Street in Brockville. He was wearing nothing but boxers and police were able to confirm he was fleeing Brockville General Hospital.
Just after 6:00pm the police received a call about the man, after he broke into a house on Ormond Street. Hawkins was caught trying to steal shoes from the resident, who uses a wheelchair. The suspect fled after a confrontation and struggle with the resident. Police say pedestrians pointed them north on Bethune but the suspect was last seen on Hamilton Street. The OPP Canine unit was called in but could not locate Hawkins.
Hawkins is described as around 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds, with a medium build, short straight brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a yellow Tommy Hilfiger sweater, a teal polo shirt and black shoes. Police say he may also be bleeding from his arm or have minor injuries as a result of the fight with the Ormond Street resident. Hawkins is familiar with downtown Brockville and may return.
The public are encouraged to contact police if they see the suspect but not to approach him. Brockville Police Services can be reached at 613-342-0127.
