Building Condition Assessment: Leo Boivin Community Centre

More information about the Leo Boivin Community Centre is available after town staff finished a building condition assessment on the arena.

According to the assessment significant repairs are required to fix problems and further issues are expected in years to come. Director of Public Works and Infrastructure Dan Beattie points out that many repairs suggested after the 2011 inspection were not followed up on. The building is 50 years old and is expected to last for another ten years.

Town staff are suggesting just over $580,000 be spent in 2018 to improve a number of issues; including the roofing, bleachers and stairs. Repairing the roof is expected to cost around $275,000 but it would get rid of the mold issue that shut the community centre down late last year.

If town hall follows the timeline laid out by staff the estimated cost of repairs in 2019-2020 would be under $50,000 and under $13,000 for 2021-2022.
