A local group is encouraging children to be more active with a new initiative.
Healthy Kids Community Challenge Leeds and Grenville is now accepting applications for their Power Off and Play! community challenge. Non-profit groups and organizations are eligible for $5,000 worth of funding towards programs that shorten the amount of time children spend in front of a screen.
Program Co-Facilitator Alexis Green says play time away from screens encourages development as well as physical, social and emotional well-being. Power Off and Play! is the fourth theme in Healthy Kids overall strategy.
Groups interested in applying must do so before 4:30 on March 2nd. Application forms can be found here.
