Prescott Town Council has accepted the Committee of the Whole’s recommendations on how to best move forward concerning the Leo Boivin Community Centre.
The Council has now given formal approval for staff to address health and safety related issues at the Leo during 2018, funding for this will come from the Community Centre and Infrastructure Reserves. Next town staff will work with engineers to plan for a replacement arena within the next five years, including but not limited to site reviews and preliminary designs. Finally the town will be exploring all available funding and grant opportunities so there will be less of a burden on the town’s reserves.
The town’s council continues to stress the importance of finding a funding partner before moving forward with construction. Mayor Brett Todd once again mentioned Augusta Township as a possible partner, adding that Mayor Doug Malanka is willing to have a formal discussion.
