2nd Floor Asbestos Causing 3rd Floor Renovations

The asbestos problem on the 2nd floor of Prescott Town Hall is about to result in changes on the 3rd floor.

After the second floor of Town Hall was shut down staff moved to the third floor, which has been occupied by Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addiction and Mental Health Services. CAO Pierre Mercier says they have been very cooperative and part of their operation has been moved to the Library on a temporary basis. Only two rooms required for them to operate and it is still unclear how long they will be in this temporary space.

According to Mercier they have been in contact with real estate specialists and that they would like to stay in Prescott. It was also pointed out how much of an inconvenience this is for them, while recommending looking at the month to month lease expenses to see where the town could help.

Councillor Leanna Burton supported the idea, noting the mental health is a big issue overall. Committee voted to have town staff look into setting up a temporary lease agreement with Addictions and Mental Health Services.
