The Town of Prescott Committee of the Whole has recommended a new Emergency Response Information Officer.
The committee is recommending Council appoint Tourism and Recreation Coordinator Katie Allard. Chief Administrative Officer Pierre Mercier points out tourism and recreation people are often good for this position because they have public speaking and social media skills.
If Council approve the recommendation Allard will take over from Councillor Ray Young. Changes to the town’s Emergency Mandate and Civil Protection Act make it so a sitting councillor can no longer hold the position.
According to the town the position requires a few days of basic emergency management training. Mercier says he thinks Allard is the ideal candidate.
