The Upper Canada District School Board are trying to raise the graduation rate.
According to Superintendent Phil Dawes the graduation rate has gone up over three and a half per cent since 2013-2014. The Board say these numbers represent a conscious effort. Superintendent David Coombs points to creating a stronger connection with fifth year students and reengaging those that didn’t complete their education last year for various reasons.
According to the Board Student Success Learning Partners work with school staff across the district to give returning students the support they need to graduate. Coombs says they’ll need another 185 students to graduate in order to make the target of two per cent annually they’ve set.
