Prescott Council supports proposed shuttle bus service

Prescott Council is in favour of the bus/shuttle service proposed by Angela Smale. She made a presentation to council last night, noting she did not want any money from the town. Smale says there is only one option for public transit in Prescott: taxi. The proposed shuttle bus, running from East to Centre and West to Centre, would provide an alternative for people. Prescott Mayor Brett Todd says the bus would be good for the town

The first shuttle bus would hold 8 passengers and have scheduled stops within Prescott.

The cost to ride would be about $4. Children under the age of 5 would be free. Todd says the bus service could expand to other towns.

Smale wants to work with the town and local businesses to figure out the best routes. She also wants to put a tourist bus on the road in 2020 that would travel to historical sites in town.

Council was in favour of the shuttle bus proposal and directed staff to prepare an administrative report.
