Aquatarium to honour Canada C3 Expedition with mural

Brockville’s Aquatarium will unveil a mural commemorating the 2017 Canada C3 Expedition and the Canadian Coast Guard. The ceremony is set for next Friday at 3:45pm. Jeffery Hutchinson, the Commissioner of the Canadian Coast Guard will be in attendance, along with Geoff Green, the Director of the Canada C3 Expedition.

The event will begin with a tour of the facility. Area dignitaries will address the crowd, including Acting Mayor of Brockville Leigh Bursey and former Mayor of Prescott Sandra Lawn.

The mural depicts the MV Polar Prince – a former Coast Guard ship – leaving Brockville’s harbour one year ago this month on its journey around Canada’s three coasts in celebration of Canada 150.

The mural was produced by the Aquatarium’s in-house artist Dave Sheridan as a legacy

project celebrating a special year in Canadian history.

At 7:00pm a full cannon salute will be given to Commissioner Hutchinson by the crew of the tall ship training vessel Faire Jeanne, of Bytown Brigantine.

The Aquatarium is a non-profit interactive science and education museum focused on the history and ecology of the Thousand Islands region.
