Counties Council voted to increase the portion taken from the tax levy for hospital capital funding from .5 per cent to 1 percent. The vote to amend the hospital funding policy was held Monday. The increase will come into effect January 1, 2019. Â
The move follows funding agreements for three hospital projects struck in May. Five financial plan options were reviewed to fund the requests.
The plan chosen spreads out payment for the projects over 12 years, starting with $75,000 for the Kemptville District Hospital this year. Payments to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation of $120,000 annually will start next year. In 2020, the Brockville General Hospital Foundation will get $212,500 per year for 10 years.
