Tastes And Sounds Event Set For September

United Way of Leeds and Grenville will have its first ever Tastes and Sounds event on September 16th.

Christine Radford is a Resource Development Manager at United Way and says the event features specialty foods from restaurants across Leeds and Grenville and beverages from wineries, breweries and distilleries. There will also be apple cider, coffee and other non-alcoholic beverages. It is $150 a ticket and there is a $75 tax receipt. The money raised at the event goes back to United Way. Radford says the proceeds help over 120 agencies across Leeds and Grenville.

“Things like Big Brothers Big Sisters, various agencies in Kemptville, Prescott, Boys and Girls Club through Gananoque. The United Way assists one in four people in the Leeds and Grenville area, throughout the year.”

Radford says the event was created to help continue supporting the community while different plants and companies are closing.

“We’re thinking of different ideas. Something that can involve members of the community and as well continue to bring the funds in, so we can continue to look after the people that need us the most.”

The event is at Windmill Brewery and King’s Lock Craft Distillery at five Newport Drive in Johnstown. It will run from 1:30 to 5:30 in the afternoon. Eddy and the Stingrays and HappyCrap will be performing. There is a maximum of 300 spots available.
