You can get rid of hazardous waste that’s in your home for free.
The Household Hazardous Waste Day will be happening on September 22nd. Residents can drop off items at the South Grenville County Patrol Garage on 2320 County Road 21, East of Spencerville from 8:30 to 11:30 that day. Drop offs will also be accepted at the North Grenville County Patrol Garage on 720 County Road 44, South of Kemptville, from one to four in the afternoon. Only waste from residents from Leeds and Grenville, Gananoque and Prescott will be accepted.
Waste that will be accepted includes: batteries, drain cleaners, oven cleaners, pesticides, rat poison, pharmaceuticals, cleaning fluids, pool chemicals, ammonia, bleach, aerosols, gasoline, paints, barbecue starter, oils, solvents and propane cylinders.
The waste must be brought in its original container and can’t be mixed. Electronics, appliances, tires, explosives, PCB contaminated and radioactive waste will not be accepted.
