Luis Zelayeta is running for councillor in Prescott. He says he is focusing on developing a plan that is business for Prescott. He also says he wants to sustain what Prescott currently has for renovations, construction projects and ways of developing new infrastructure in the area.
He says his background in development can help the town with in-town development, construction development and filling the downtown core. Zelayeta says he’s running so he can give his best expertise for development and also because there is a need to improve the downtown altogether.
Zelayeta says big priorities for him would be looking into the sewer mains on some of the old parts of town, creating larger entrances and exits to the highways and having sound barrier walls near the highway in town.
He says the beach could be looked into for expansion, parks can be advertised better and the waterfront could be enhanced. Another idea he said was to work with the Developer of the possible Aquaworld Resort near Prescott and build a twin pad arena there.
“Instead of using the town’s money or putting the town into a 10, 15 million dollar debt for a single arena, why not approach them (Aquaworld) with a buy-able option where they would construct the arena at their costs with some rights to having one part of the arena for them and having the twin pad for the town. Where it can be used by the junior team, figure skaters and public skating.”
He says along with his construction background, being accountable for money in business and not being people shy makes him qualified to make decisions for the town.
