The Town of Prescott has announced that municipal lands at Development Drive have been sold to Alantra Leasing Inc.
According to the town, it is a 10-acre parcel of land in the northern Highway 401 Industrial Park and will be used for the expansion of Alantra’s business operations, including a maintenance,
service, and distribution outlet to serve Eastern Ontario.
In a media release, Alantra is called Eastern Canada’s leader in modular mobile and prefabricated structures since 1981, and offers a variety of fully‐featured mobile offices, job site trailers, washcars, kitchen/dining facilities, sleeping accommodations, training facilities, and furniture and accessories and custom builds tailored to specific needs.
The company already has branches based in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, Quebec, Ontario, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
Mayor Brett Todd says welcoming the strong Canadian brand is a big win for the Fort Town and the entire region.
“Adding Alantra to our Industrial Park brings in jobs, provides direct revenue to the town courtesy of the land sale value of $250,000, and of course adds to our overall tax base. This, along with the other major developments underway now in the Industrial Park, will allow Prescott to continue to grow and also to rebound strongly from the economic challenges presented by the COVID‐19 pandemic.”
Prescott says Alantra plans to build a 10,000 square foot facility and use the rest of the property for exterior storage of mobile units. The town says the development will provide 5‐10 full time local employment opportunities over the short term and initial growth period, with potential long‐term increases anticipated. Alantra also plans to use local contractors and suppliers throughout the construction and to support ongoing operations. The value of the planned development is estimated at $750,000, with construction expected to be completed by spring 2022.
