The township of August has introduced a new face to its staff.
After a comprehensive recruitment process, Bryan Brown has been named the township’s Chief Administrative Officer, assuming the role of the retiring CAO, Ray Morrison.
Brown, who has 16 years of experience as a CAO, as well as experience as an Economic Development Officer, says he looks forward to maximizing the community’s economic potential.
“Augusta has always been an area that had location written all over it, it was a matter of time before it became ‘our time’,” Brown said. “You look at highway 401, the 416, the Johnstown Port, the International Bridge in Johnstown. We’ve always had location.”
The CAO is responsible for the leadership and general management of the Corporation, acting as the key advisor and liaison to Council.
Brown says he’s eager to assume the role.
One of his first priorities is helping Augusta initiate a joint venture with the town of Prescott to identify common opportunities between the two municipalities.
“Are there opportunities to share staff, are there opportunities to use equipment that one municipality might have and the other doesn’t,” Brown said. “Simple stuff like we have a grader, Prescott doesn’t, Prescott has a street-sweeper, we don’t.”
The township says it expects Brown to aggressively move forward on bringing residential, agriculture, commercial and industry development and jobs to the township.
Brown says he looks forward to the road ahead.
