Brockville Enters New Agreement With Brockville Professional Firefighters Association

The City of Brockville has entered into a new collective agreement with the Brockville Professional Firefighters Association.

The five-year agreement announced Wednesday will provide wage increases of 2 percent or less in each year of the contract.

Brockville Mayor Jason Baker says both city council and the association found common ground to deliver a locally negotiated agreement that satisfies all parties.

“We know that all of us share the goal to continue to provide a well trained and very well-equipped fire department while understanding the limits financially on our community,” Baker said. “It’s refreshing to see we all continue to share the same goals and that through continued dialogue we can continue to find ways to meet all goals.”

Both parties worked together to freely negotiate an agreement that is mutually beneficial to both the ratepayers of Brockville and the members of the Association.

President of the Brockville Professional Firefighters Association Ryan Wells says they are looking forward to working with the city.

“The City of Brockville COVID-19 restrictions made traditional bargaining difficult, but the teams persevered and worked out an agreement that is fair for both parties,” Wells said. “We look forward to positive labour relations in the future.”

The agreement runs from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2023.
