Kelly’s Beach Closed For Upgrades

Prescott residents can expect to see some improvements at Kelly’s Beach in the near future.

The town is advising the public that the beach is closed for upgrades, and while it’s under construction, staff is encouraging residents to avoid the area for their safety.

Mayor Brett Todd says people who frequent the area will have to be a little patient as the work gets completed.

“What we’re starting on right now are walls around the beach area,” Todd said. “That’s being improved with the addition of some stairs, so we’ll have better access to the water. We’re also adding a mural to the pool building.”

Throughout the summer, the beach is a very popular spot for residents and tourists.

Todd says these upgrades will make the beach even more of a prime destination.

“We are looking at another additional access point to the beach area that will also include a launch point for kayaks,” Todd said. “But right now, it’s proving problematic because the water levels are so low.”

The town hopes to have the upgrades completed in the next week or two.

Todd adds it’s his hope in the future to expand the beach even further around the cove.

“There is a little extra space there, we could add some sand and this is sort of the first step, and hopefully we can work toward that in the next couple of years to improve the area even more,” Todd said.

If you have any concerns, Todd says you can reach out to the town’s Operations Department at 613-925-2812 ext. 6219, or via email.
