Summer Programs Set To Launch In Edwardsburgh-Cardinal

Summer programs are set to get underway in the Township of Edwardsburgh-Cardinal.

Facility Manager for the Township Mike Spencer says the programs are a great opportunity for kids to get out this summer to take part in fun activities, and make long lasting friends and memories.

Spencer says from swimming lessons to day camp opportunities, the bulk of their programs are free.

“We all know the situation with schools being closed, and if we’re able to offer some sort of excitement for these kids, even if it’s just a half-hour or an hour swim, I think it has to be looked at as a positive,” Spencer said.

Registration for swimming lessons and summer camps are open on June 12, and swimming programs are set to begin by the end of the month at both their Johnstown and Edwardsburgh-Cardinal pools.

Spencer feels having these programs in place is vital at this time in order to help kids with their mental and emotional development.

“If we’re able to offer free swimming lessons to one individual and it helps them from drowning down the road, then that shows the positive impact of these programs,” Spencer said.

In the past, the program’s capacity has been around 35 kids, but this year, the Township will be limiting group sizes to 20.

To register for the programs, head to the Township’s website.
