Prescott’s Mayor says damage that was caused to the town’s community garden over the long weekend is disheartening.
Mayor Gauri Shankar says unknown suspects have been causing damage in the area over the past few weeks and struck the raised community garden, located beside the Prescott Pop-Ups, over the Canada Day holiday.
He says it’s saddening because volunteers produce vegetables from the garden that go to the South Grenville Food Bank and those less fortunate.
Shankar is hopeful someone knows what happened.
“If they see something they can say something, sometimes you see it happening and you ignore it but maybe they’ll speak up and say that’s not right.”
Volunteers are already at work repairing the garden, Shankar says.
