Students and staff receiving support at Kemptville school following lockdown

Supports are in place for students and staff at a Kemptville school following a scary incident last week.

Police say St.Michael Catholic High School was put into a lockdown and searched on Friday morning after anonymous threats of violence were left on the school’s voicemail.

Nothing was found and the school was fully reopened later that day.

Officials with the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario say a support team was dispatched immediately to the school following the lockdown lifting with the team continuing to provide support as needed.

Parents with children can contact the school administration so that their students can access support.

Board officials say uncomfortable emotions are a normal response after unexpected incidents such what happened, but usually the sense of vulnerability subsides over time.
