A winter storm dumping snow down on eastern Ontario has forced a day off for area students.
Both the Upper Canada District School Board and the Eastern Ontario Catholic District School Board announced on Wednesday night that buses will be canceled and schools will be closed on Thursday.
School officials say administrative offices will also be closed and they note that many municipalities and organizations across the district have decided to do the same.
It is expected that schools will reopen on Friday.
