Election Day: Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes voters go to the polls

It’s election day as Ontarians go the polls to select the province’s next governing party.

Candidates in the riding of Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes include Progressive Conservative Steve Clark, Liberal Lorna Jean Edmonds, Christopher Wilson of the NDP, Fiona Jager of the Green Party, Libertarian Mark Snow, New Blue Party’s Chris Garrah and the Ontario Party’s Daniel Calabretta.

Recent polling suggests Doug Ford’s PC’s have a sizeable lead over the Liberals, the NDP trailing in third place and the Green Party running below 10 per cent of the vote.

The PC’s were elected to a majority government in June of 2022, and four years prior to that when they defeated the Liberal provincial government, in 2018.

Ford called a snap election in January, well ahead of the fixed election date.
