Liberal Lorna Jean Edmonds says, despite coming in second in the federal election in our riding, the story may just be beginning.
Edmonds finished second in the Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes riding with approximately 44.2 per cent of the vote.
Conservative Micheal Barrett was reelected with at approximately 50.2 per cent but Edmonds says she’s very impressed with what her campaign was able to accomplish adding she’s very pleased that Mark Carney will remain prime minister.
Edmonds says it’s unfortunate that we wont have someone local at Carney’s table at this pivotal moment in history but adds she won’t be deterred by the results.
“We have a huge group of supporters now who want to maintain that engagement and grow and leverage it into something much more than what we have today, we only got started.”
Edmonds says that voters can count her in to run the next time that a federal election comes around.
