Two public school board trustees will stand up tonight at a board meeting against the Upper Canada District School Board’s plan to close 16 schools by the end of the school year. Of the 29 potential schools to be affected across Eastern Ontario, Edwardsburgh Public School and Maynard Public School in Prescott could close, as well as Benson Public School in Edwardsburgh Cardinal. An upgrade for Wellington Public School in Prescott could also be in the cards. Students from the shut down schools would then be relocated to other regional schools.
The UCDSB meeting is scheduled for 6:30pm tonight in Brockville. A final vote on the plan takes place in March 2017.
