Initial budget talks for 2017 got underway at Committee of the Whole on Monday night, with two big ticket items on the docket.
An estimated $3-5 million dollars could be put towards the building of a new fire hall.
A further $1 million dollars is expected to be spend for accessibility upgrades and $2 million dollars for an ice plant replacement, both at the arena. Mayor Brett Todd specifically expressed concern for the Leo Boivin Community Centre stating that the arena currently does not meet provincial standards and laws for accessibility.
Todd is expecting a big dent in the budget from these two expenditures but says they are upgrades the town cannot go without.
A final decision on capital budget projects such as these will go forward on December 12th.
