The Upper Canada District School Board has honoured a bus driver after his quick thinking and heroics helped rescue 34 students from an overturned bus.
Back on October 24th, Norm Kranz was driving students home from Meadowview Public School down Dixie Road near Athens, when a tractor crashed into his bus, causing it to spin and tip over.
Kranz safely evacuated all the children from the bus, some of whom had sustained injuries, and even declined medical attention until all the kids had been looked at first.
Kranz even used an axe to dig away at the road bed to rescue one student in particular.
Kranz was back on the road driving the next day.
