Police services across the country, including the Brockville Police, will be participating in Text 9-1-1 Awareness Day tomorrow.
Text 9-1-1 is an emergency response system used at specific 9-1-1 call centres for those who are deaf or have a hearing impairment. With the service, call centre responders will be able to have a text conversation with the user in the event of an emergency.
Users must register for the service if they would like to use it. Text 9-1-1 has been available through the Brockville Police since July 2015.
