OPP Preaches Awareness for Drivers and Pedestrians

During the winter months, drivers are being asked to up their level of caution for pedestrians.

The OPP says winter means less light and tougher road and weather conditions that can change in an instant, so drivers need to stay alert and prepared to stop for pedestrians.

Pedestrians are also asked to be aware of their surroundings, never assume a driver can see you, and wear reflective or light coloured clothes if walking in the dark.

According to police, there have been 30 pedestrians killed on OPP patrolled roads this year, which is a 66% jump from last year.
