A woman in Smiths Falls walked away from her local Food Basics with a lot more than just groceries.
Darlene Mallette showed up to the grocery store on Tuesday thinking she was getting a $250 dollar shopping spree after winning the “Have It All With Food Basics” contest.
After receiving a tour of the store, the Toledo, Ontario resident was surprised by the employees with a trip for two to Vancouver, where her two grandchildren live.
Mallette had previously said in her contest entry that she hasn’t seen her 7-year-old and 11-year-old grandchildren in two years.
