Environment Canada Issues Winter Storm Watch

Environment Canada has put a winter storm watch in effect for Prescott, Brockville, Merrickville, Wolford, Kemptville, Westport, and Charleston Lake.

The weather service is predicting significant snowfall overnight and into Saturday. Reports suggest the snow will turn into freezing rain Saturday night before resuming back to snow early Sunday.

The storm is coming from a low pressure system in Colorado and is expected to hit much of Southern Ontario.

Environment Canada is not predicting the snow to be very heavy, but the amount of snow mixed with the freezing rain is enough to warrant the winter storm watch.

Deteriorating travel conditions are expected. Winter storm watches are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.

Leeds and Grenville residents can expect anywhere from 5 to 15 centimetres.
