BlackBerry has announced that the company has been approved to open an autonomous driving research centre just outside of Ottawa.
BlackBerry’s CEO John Chen says the company’s track record for security and leadership makes the transition easy from cellphones to autonomous driving technology.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has also said that this centre will create great middle-class jobs and new opportunities for recent university graduates.
BlackBerry has also recently gotten approval from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation to test their autonomous vehicles on Ontario’s roads.
