With four new paramedics and one new supervisor set to be hired to the Leeds and Grenville Paramedic Services, council confirmed that Prescott will be paying $13,600 for their share of the services for 2017.
The hires were brought on to address the ever-rising call volumes the Paramedic Services face. Since 2010, studies within the county show calls have risen 21%, and are projected to go up another 4.8% by 2018.
The total cost of $464,455 for 2017 will be shared with Brockville, Kemptville, Elgin, Gananoque, and the United Counties who will pick up the rest of the costs proportionally.
