Capital Budget Bottom Line Comes In Black

The Town of Prescott saved a lot of money from planned capital projects this past year.

Of the $10.8 million dollar budget, the town only spent $3 million on long term projects in 2016. A bulk of the savings comes from projects put off until a later date.

Actual savings were seen from the St. Lawrence Street reconstruction which came in $1.3 million under budget, although council did spend an extra $41,000 on rehabilitation for the clock tower.

Capital projects such as the new fire hall and arena renovations are top of the list for the coming New Year for council, with projects like traffic light upgrades, a splash pad, and a dog park put on the back burner.
