Tonight’s Committee of the Whole meeting will look ahead to the next municipal election, with council members expected to keep the first-past-the-post system for 2018.
Members will also be presented with two new electoral systems – ranked choice voting and single transferable voting – Â that will be deliberated on once a study has been done after the 2018 election.
The committee will also name a number of local business and community leaders to the Business Retention and Expansion Committee.
The committee works to support existing business and find ways to create new jobs and opportunities as well.
