Seven local business and community leaders and two council members have been appointed to Prescott’s Business Retention and Expansion Committee.
The names were announced at Committee of the Whole on Monday night. The committee will work towards solving local business problems and creating jobs.
BR+E Coordinator Jaqueline Schoemaker Holmes says the team is made up of business leaders representing different sectors of Prescott’s 192 businesses:
Shelley Bacon, Owner, Northern Cables
Judi Baril, Community Representative
Carolyn Burpee, Owner, Shoppers Drug Mart (Prescott and Brockville locations)
Jag Chawla, Regional Representative, Owner, Apex Logistics Inc
Julie Marshall, Employment Services Coordinator, CSE Consulting
Chris O’Reilly, Owner/Manager, Your Independent Grocer
Dave Stevens, Owner, Netfox and Dynamic Liquidation
The group will be rounded out by Mayor Brett Todd and Councillor Ray Young.
Holmes says the largest sector within those 192 businesses is retail, followed by the likes of professional services, accommodation, food, and finance.
The Business Retention and Expansion team will meet for the first time in February.
