In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday this year, one local festival has received a huge funding grant.
The 1000 Islands Regatta and Festival in Brockville is the recipient of $10,000 from the Ontario 150 Community Celebration program.
The program has given out similar grants to 368 other events and initiatives for this year.
The grant will go towards funding the festival’s $100,000 budget.

The regatta started out as a hydroplane race 10 years ago and has now become a weekend long festival featuring live music and many other attractions.
This year’s event happens June 30th to July 2nd.
