The OPP is reminding residents not to use 9-1-1 unless there’s a real emergency after an incident in Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township.
A driver was stopped on Sunday and decided to call 9-1-1 to argue about a ticket he was given.
Police visited him and addressed his concerns, but then educated him on when to use the 9-1-1 system.
Police say you should only call 9-1-1 when it’s an emergency, such as when the safety of people or property is at risk. Police also remind residents it’s illegal to call 9-1-1 as a joke.
