Final Chance For Community To Convince Trustees To Save Schools

North Grenville District High School will be the place where concerned parents and community members plead their cases for the final time to keep their local schools open.

The Upper Canada District School Board will be holding two special delegation meetings tomorrow and Thursday in Kemptville, starting at 6:30pm.

Stephen Sliwa, UCDSB Director of Education, says these meetings will be different than the accommodation review meetings that people have presented at. Sliwa says community members will be speaking directly to the trustees this time, not having their voices filtered through the Accommodation Review Committee staff.

Sliwa says 22 delegates will make presentations, with 11 each day. Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark will be one of many delegates to present over the next two days.

The presentations will dispute the UCDSB staff’s final report, which still recommends 12 schools to close, a list that was cut from a possible 29. Maynard Public School and Benson Public School remain on the list for closure.
