Brockville General Hospital has declared an enteric outbreak in two of their units.
Both the East 1 and East 2 units in the Charles Street building have been quarantined off until the outbreak is controlled. BGH’s Infection Control team is currently undergoing cleaning and containment protocols to limit any further spread of the disease.
The units are still open to visitors, but the hospital strongly recommends any non-essential visits be put on hold until the outbreak is over. The hospital recommends thorough hand washing for anyone who does visit the units.
Gastroenteric infections usually last between two to three days and can cause nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps and diarrhea.
