Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark is urging the farming community to send in nominations for the 2017 Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence.
The award recognizes up to 50 innovations in the field of agriculture, an area which Clark says Leeds and Grenville takes a back seat to no one.
Clark says the agriculture industry is one of the most important in Eastern Ontario, and points to large and small companies across the region, like King’s Lock Craft Distillery and Greenfield Ethanol, that are producing using local ingredients.
Clark also says the region has a history of winning these awards, with Sherman Winery in Westport winning this year and Bluegrass Farm near Jasper picking up an award as well.
The Premier’s Award has a prize valued at $75,000, with the Minister’s Award worth $50,000.
The deadline to submit applications is 11:59pm on April 28th. Head over to www.ontario.ca/agrifoodinnovation for more information.
