This Is The Snow Storm That Almost Wasn’t

Despite the recent warm weather, old man winter has reared its ugly head again with this latest dumping of snow.

But it was a storm that almost wasn’t meant to be. Environment Canada Metorologist Mark Schuster says it is a combination of a storm system that veered off the U.S. eastern seaboard a couple days before it was meant to hit, and a cold air mass from the arctic that has brought us back to the dead of winter.

Schuster says it has been a very unusual winter in terms of the temperature, and that Eastern Ontario has been spoiled with warm air masses that have come from the Southern United States and Pacific Ocean.

Schuster says to expect the temperature to rise back to the freezing mark by the weekend, with the chance for rain.

Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says Environment Canada is predicting a warmer than average spring for Eastern Ontario, but noted that it does not exempt the region from dipping back into the winter-like conditions.
