Prescott Mayor Brett Todd is asking the Ministry of Transport to look into the issue of trucks hauling hazardous materials on the 401 during serious inclement weather.
Todd released a statement on Facebook to clarify his position, saying he wasn’t calling for an outright ban but looking into the issue and asking questions.
Todd also stated that this isn’t an attack on the trucking industry at all.
Todd says he just wants to gather information from the ministry because of Prescott’s vulnerabilities with the 401 so close. Todd says they want to be proactive about trying to prevent another Mallorytown-like incident and says they hope to gain some clarity from the ministry in the coming weeks.
