Areas along the Rideau River between Kemptville and Kars could experience flooding as early as today.
The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority says it’s due to a combination of warm weather and forecasted rain. The RVCA says it expects the flows to increase significantly. Access roads such as Hilly Lane, Cedar Beach Lane and Harris Road are all areas that could see flooding as early as today due to the forecast of rain.
RVCA Senior Water Resources Technician Patrick Larson says that if the forecast of more rain later this week holds true, this could be a bad year for flooding.
The RVCA is reminding parents to be careful with children who may want to wander close to flowing water. It also wants to make sure people are aware that severe flooding could mean water leaking into the basement and items in the yard could float away. Residents that can be affected should take precautions.
