The Prescott Fire Department is warning residents about the dangers of pots left on stoves after a fire in a local apartment.
On Tuesday afternoon, firefighters were called to a fire at 780 Susan Street. Twenty firefighters were involved. Smoke was visible from a third floor apartment. While everyone escaped, one tenant did have smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire was an unattended pot left on the stove.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer Brent Norton says that it’s the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries.
Damage is estimated at $30,000 to $50,000 dollars.
