Two well known citizens were honoured last night.
Donald Barton was named the 2017 Citizen of the Year. Barton has been a longtime resident of Prescott and has volunteered for many organizations. He’s a driver for the Victorian Order of Nurses, he’s served on the Sandy Hill Cemetery Board and the Prescott Waste Management Committee, and has volunteered at many events through St. Paul’s United Church.
Named as the 2017 Volunteer of the Year was Brent Norton. Norton has served for 35 years with the Prescott Fire Department and is the Chief Fire Prevention Officer. He has volunteered with both the daytime Santa Claus Parade and the Light Up the Night Parade. Norton has also volunteered with minor hockey and the Prescott Lion’s Club.
Both individuals were honoured with awards at the Prescott Town Council meeting.
