Brockville General Hospital’s Palliative Care Service has received $6,000 from St. Lawrence College’s firefighters class of 2016-2017.
The money came from multiple fundraising events organized through the program. Part of the Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training Program requirements are that each student spend eight hours in a hospital placement and also fulfill 20 community volunteer hours. The money was fundraised through some of the community hours.
Students say they like the fact that 100 percent of the funds will be used locally. The money was presented last Wednesday.
