Thefts from within vehicles

Brockville police are investigating a number of cars that were broken in to and had items stolen from them.

On Monday morning police say they received three complaints of minor thefts from unlocked vehicles parked in different places in the city’s south end. Some of the items taken from the vehicles include loose change, clothing and electronic equipment. According to police they also received a fourth complaint but that car owner was reporting damage to his vehicle. The owner said he did not notice anything missing.

Police are reminding car owners to lock their doors overnight, even if the vehicle is parked in their driveway. They added that if you must park your car on the street it should be in a well-lit area and that valuable items should be taken inside.

Residents are asked to contact police if they observe individuals walking near parked cars and checking door handles. Police added that residents should not approach these individuals. Anyone with information is asked to contact that Brockville Police Service at 613-342-0127. Tips can also be submitted anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.tipsubmit.com.
